PETALING JAYA: To effectively play their part to revitalise the economy since the estate agency practice sector has reopened, the Malaysian Institute of Estate Agents (MIEA) is stepping up its presence in the market whilst safeguarding clients.

“While we are excited to resume work, we want to remind our agents to be wary to safeguard our clients as well as the real estate practitioners themselves against the spread of Covid-19. Part of our main responsibility as real estate agents is the need to meet, engage, negotiate and work with buyers, tenants, sellers and landlords. We want to live up to the old adage that prevention is better than cure.” said MIEA in a press statement.

MIEA Sabah branch committee chairman Rose Lai took the initiative to produce an educational real estate standard operating procedures (SOPs) video for all parties to adhere to. Based on the Health Ministry’s guidelines, the two-and-a-half-minute video is part of MIEA’s corporate social responsibility for 2021.

The video highlights the preparations before the viewings and handling of the viewing of a property. “As responsible agents, we need to protect the interest of our clients, and we hope the video will help the general public to gain confidence with our work and our agents to play their part. We are happy to note that this video will be used nationwide by some 30,000 real estate practitioners,” said MIEA.
